Abidal wants to sign Thiago despite Arthur arrival
The new sporting director has plans to bring Thiago home
Arthur's arrival has not stopped Barcelona's interest in signing another midfielder. Sporting director Eric Abidal wants to bring in Thiago Alcantara. Both Ernesto Valverde and Abidal agree that the club needs an elite midfielder.
The Bayern Munich player's name has been on the table since Abidal met Valverde and the rest of the sporting board staff, Ramon Planes and Pep Segura. However, with Arthur's arrival it seemed Thiago had been put on ice. In recent hours the interest has been reactivated.
Abidal is the man who is most interested in bringing back Thiago and is heavily involved. Contact with other midfielders, like Rabiot, is not interfering in a Thiago deal.
Bayern are willing to sell the Spanish midfielder, who would like to return 'home'.
