Without official confirmation, any gesture towards the idea of Lionel Messi renewing his Barcelona deal is welcome news. Although both sides try to work quietly with their renewal plann, Barcelona are not hiding their intention on social media.
Messi is technically not a player at the club any more after his contract expired on June 30. Yet the club wrote a Tweet about him, hailing his exploits against Ecuador in the Copa America.
“Simply Leo,” they wrote, with the goat emoji, as well as reflecting his two assists and goal.
It’s a sign that they still consider him their player and the renewal seems closer and closer to happening.
