The two clubs are still negotiating over the fee for the Dutchman

Barça will sell if the price is right and Ten Hag wants the deal done

Frenkie de Jong is still Manchester United's top target this summer following the appointment of former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag.

Little by little, the Barcelona midfielder is moving closer to Old Trafford. At the moment, the difference between the two clubs is €15 million.

The sensation is, despite De Jong having a contract at Camp Nou until 2026, the Dutch international will leave the Catalan club after three seasons.

During this time, since his €75m move from Ajax, Barça have only won a Copa del Rey and are on to their fourth full-time manager.

De Jong, however, has still not given the green light to the operation because he has not given up on succeeding at Barça. If he has to leave, he will do so, as long as Barça ask him to.

What he does not want is the story that he is forcing an exit is peddled.

United's first offer for De Jong was €60m and was rejected by Barça. The second, per The Guardian, will be around €70m, which is close to the €75m + €11m in add-ons Barça paid in 2019.

In the coming days, both teams hope to get closer and that an agreement can be reached. Barça want €10m more guaranteed and another €5m in add-ons.

De Jong is still on holiday with his partner and hopes to resolve his future before he is due back for Barça's preseason. The team will start back on July 4, but having been involved in the UEFA Nations League, De Jong will have a few more days off.
