The fight between Barcelona and Bayern Munich for the Ajax defender Sergiño Dest has moved into the next phase. After Bayern made an offer worth around 20 million euros, Barça have responded by contacting the Dutch club. According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Barça don't want to miss out on the United States right-back and have asked ajax to name their price as they finalise Nelson Semedo's transfer to Wolves.
Barça's healthy relationship with Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars could play in the Catalan's favour, although time is against them. Bayern have been working on a deal for much longer. But Barça are there now and have spent the last few days in contact with the player's agents and Ajax.
With Semedo set to complete a 35 million euro move to Wolves this week, Barça can finally step up their hunt for a new right-back. They could even better Bayern's offer for Dest. The bidding opened at around 10 million euros but Ajax say they want around up to 25 million euros. We will see what Barça can come up with.
