The Spanish left-back has been on the club's radar for many years now

Barcelona continue to look for competition for Jordi Alba after Junior Firpo's first season at the club fell below expectations.

The priority, if they can sell Junior this summer, is Paris Saint-Germain's Layvin Kurzawa, who is out of contract in the summer and available for free.

But Barça are also keeping an eye on his PSG teammate, Juan Bernat, whose qualities fit the club's style of play. At 27, Bernat has done well in France since leaving Bayern Munich in 2018.

Bernat's deal in Paris runs until 2021 and talks over a renewal have stalled. There's no agreement and Barça know he would like to return to Spain, where he left in 2014 after breaking through at Valencia.

Barça's interest is not new but it has increased but, first of all, they are obliged to sell Junior, who joined from Real Betis for 20 million euros last summer.

Juventus are also keen on Bernat, who they tried to sign in 2018, too, and PSG's hand in negotiations has been weakened by the potential arrival of Alex Telles from Porto to take over the left-back role.
