The reasons Cristiano Ronaldo is interested in Atletico Madrid switch
The Portuguese forward wants to leave Man United and sign for Diego Simeone's side
Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential move to Atletico Madrid is taking shape. There are two main reasons for the player to want to go to the Wanda Metropolitano. One is because he doesn’t want Lionel Messi to overtake him as the top goalscorer in Champions League history. Another is that his partner Georgina wants to go back to Spain and above all, to Madrid.
Simeone has given the signing the nod but it’s a very complicated deal financially speaking. Maun United are loathe to let him leave for free despite the player’s will to depart.
The Argentine coach thinks that Ronaldo could have a similar impact to Luis Suarez in his first season as a Rojiblanco. However Atletico need 40m in sales and possibly more if they are to sign the Portuguese striker.
Jorge Mendes has offered him to Atletico but for now they see the signing as ‘unviable’ because of the finances, but there is still plenty of time to go.
