The goalkeeper's committed his future to Atletico until 2023

Jan Oblak has extended his contract with Atletico Madrid until 2023, the Spanish club announced on Wednesday.

The goalkeeper's release clause will increase to 120 million euros, although Atletico had hoped to set it at 200 million. Oblak's net salary, meanwhile, will rise to around 10 million annually.

"I'm really happy," the stopper said. "I will always give my best to defend this club's colours. I'm going to keep working hard."

Oblak joined Atletico in 2014 but it was only in 2015 that he broke into the first team after his first big performance for the club, against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. He saved a penalty in the shootout to send Diego Simeone's side into the quarterfinals.

In total, he's played 203 games for Atletico and has kepy an incredible 115 clean sheets. He has won the last three Zamora trophies.
