The Rojiblancos followed Barça out of the competition on Wednesday

Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid have been knocked out of the Champions League after Wednesday's dramatic 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

Yannick Carrasco missed a stoppage-time penalty and Saul Niguez sent the rebound against the post as Atletico were eliminated following Porto's win over Club Brugge earlier in the day.

Atletico play Porto in their final game but they are four points behind the Portuguese side in second so cannot catch them. Brugge are top of the group.

However, Atletico still need to win to be guaranteed of European football in the New Year. A failure to claim three points against Porto, coupled with a Leverkusen win over Brugge, would see them even miss out on the Europa League.
